The Music Box grew out of a small project studio that I had in the basement of our suburban home in Cambridge, Ontario. I spent a couple of years recording a couple of friends’ songs using portable gear and a laptop and mixed and mastered it in that small room. I first started recording around 2000 when I bought a Fostex 16 channel portable recording device. I used that to produce a three song demo CD for the Celtic rock band I was in at the time.
Fast forward to 2021 and my wife and I sold our Ontario home and moved to Clare, Nova Scotia. We purchased a home in the country with an acre and a half of property. Part of the deal was recording space for me so we bought a custom built Old Hickory building that I turned into a recording studio. The house has a fully equipped guest apartment attached for our family and friends and also studio clients who travel a distance.
Clare turned out to be a good location. Musicians are everywhere. I formed a band called Sissiboo and we rehearse in the studio. My wife has added many lovely gardens that add charm to the property. We’re very happy here and have made many friends. I hope you’ll come and visit us so I can show you how I can help your music project succeed.
